Suspects in connection with the Maligawatta stampede remanded

COLOMBO (News 1st): The 06 people arrested in connection with the stampede in Maligawatta on Thursday (May 21), have been remanded till the 4th of June. Maligakanda Magistrates Court ordered the suspects to be remanded on Thursday night. The distribution of cash by an individual on Thursday resulted in a stampede, which cost the lives of 03 women. 09 people who sustained injuries in the incident are receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. Sri Lanka Police said legal action will be filed against those involved in the incident as such a distribution of cash was in violation of the quarantine and curfew regulations.
