81 people from Piliyandala moved into quarantine over COVID-19 concerns

Colombo (News 1st);  81 people who associated the COVID-19 patient detected from Nivanthidiya in Piliyandala, were moved into quarantine. The Medical Officer of Health for Piliyandala Indika Ellawala said 11 of them would be subject to PCR tests this evening. He said the 33-year-old male had fallen ill yesterday and visited a hospital where he was subject to a PCR test. The test confirmed the man tested positive for the Corona Virus. The patient was immediately taken to IDH and his family and neighbors were subject to quarantine in their homes. Identified as a fishmonger, the man who tested positive had visited the Peliyagoda Fish Market on multiple occasions and had engaged in the sale of fish using a curfew pass during the curfew period. The Medical Officer of Health for Piliyandala Indika Ellawala said in total 81 people were ordered to self-quarantine. The Medical Officer of Health for Kahathuduwa Danuka Pathmaraja said, the COVID-19 patient owns a fish shop in Kahathuduwa and if anyone had made purchases from that store, they must immediately contact the authorities.
