Immigration and Emigration Dept. removed from defence ministry's purview

COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka's department of immigration and emigration has been brought under the Ministry of Mahaweli, Agriculture, Waterways and Rural Development. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had issued a gazette notification on April 8 bringing the department under minister Chamal Rajapaksa. The government after appointing its first cabinet in November last year, brought the immigration and emigration department under the ministry of defence.
