COLOMBO (News 1st):- Issuing a notice, the President's Media Division says that the Temple of the Sacred Tooth relic and the Malwatte and Asgiriya temples donated Rs. 20 million for the COVID-19 health and social conservation fund.
The donation was provided during the President's visit to Kandy today (March 28). President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was welcomed by the Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dhaala at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic following which a donation of Rs. 10 million was presented.
Thereafter the President visited the Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter, Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero to explain about the government's program to eradicate the Coronavirus, following which he too made a donation of Rs. 5 million. The President also paid a visit to the Anunayake of the Malwatte Chapter Most Venerable Niyangoda thero.
During the President's visit to the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter, Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Ghanarathana Thero to explain about the state COVID-19 program, he too made a donation of Rs. 5 million.
