Sri Lankan pilgrims in India will be quarantined upon arrival

Colombo (News 1st) - The Government of Sri Lanka has decided to quarantine all Sri Lankan pilgrims in Indian upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport. Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva speaking to reporters said the Government decided to send a special flight to Indian to bring back Sri Lankan pilgrims and they would be directed for immediate quarantine thereafter. The Army Commander went on to note the number of quarantine centers in Sri Lanka will be increased and the Kandakadu Quarantine Center which has 13 separate buildings functions as 26 individual units. He said a total of 2287 people are housed at 16 separate quarantine centers and among them are 21 foreign nationals. The Army Commander said 19 people from the total number sent to quarantine tested positive for COVID-19 and the total of 50 confirmed COVID-19 cases include these 19 people.
