President to open section of Southern expressway today

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The section of the Southern expressway from Godagama, Matara to Barawakumbuka, Hambantota will be vested with the public this evening (February 23) under the auspices of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The section is 56 km in length. Meanwhile, Minister of Transport Services Management, Mahinda Amaraweera has advised the Sri Lanka Transport Board to deploy 10 luxury buses to travel along the Matara- Hambantota expressway. Issuing a notice, the Ministry noted that these buses will travel from the Matara-Hambantota expressway to the Katunayake International airport and Kadawatha. These buses will travel to the relevant destinations starting from the Ambalanthota, Tangalle, Hambantota exits. Under the initial phase, three buses are due to be deployed.
