COLOMBO (News 1st):- Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa called on the Mahanayake Theros today (February 22) to discuss matters with regards to the opening of the Central Expressway and the issues prevailing in the country. The Prime Minister, who arrived in Kandy this morning (February 22) paid his respects to the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Later, the Prime Minister called on the Mahanayaka of the Malwatte Chapter Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero.
Following the event Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa said;
"All this time we utilized what was made by the British. Now there is a road from Matara to Beliatta. The small shop owners have issues, hotel owners don't know whether people will go in the evening and return back."
The Prime Minister then called on the Anunayaka of the Malwatte Chapter Most Venerable Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Thero and had a brief conversation.
Mahinda Rajapaksa also said;
"Venerable Thero for 5 years a grievous crime has been committed, our contractors were replaced by others. And everything changed including the plan. Now they say there is a legal conflict and I hope to discuss the matter with the Attorney General."
Malwatte Anunayaka Thero:- There is an upcoming election and the people are concerned about their hunger.
Mahinda Rajapaksa:- Compared to the last few days the price of Bombay Onion has increased by Rs.150

Mahinda Rajapaksa:- I'm ready to talk with India
Anunayaka Thero:- Yes yes
Mahinda Rajapaksa:- This morning we got to know that the Pakistani vendors have stocked up goods, we will look into that as well.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa also called on the Mahanayaka of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero.
Mahinda Rajapaksa:- They went crazy before construction, but now it's done and can travel all the way to Lunugamvehera from here.

Mahinda Rajapaksa:-Venerable Thero it must be done, the past 5 years were wasted.
Later the Prime Minister answered the questions raised by journalists.
Journalist:- Will the halted development begin again?
Mahinda Rajapaksa:- One way or another we will do it and will never stop. Remember we are efficient; our President is an efficient man. We have to catch up on the destroyed 5 years.
Journalist:- There is much opposition on joining hands with the former President
Mahinda Rajapaksa:- We have to accept the one nominated by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, even if someone like the Chief Minister from this province is sent we will accept. He was not sent, it was Sirisena who was sent and we have to accept him.
