President, PM and Opposition leader issue Maha Shivrathri day messages

Colombo (News 1st) - President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa conveyed their wishes for Maha Shivratri today. In his message for Maha Sivarathri, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said, As the leader of the country, he is very pleased to see that all citizens are committed for the progress of our motherland while ensuring inter-religious harmony and co-existence with commitment. President Rajapaksa added, religion brings mental relaxation and well being for human beings who have to move forward in life, facing numerous challenges, obstacles and complexities and our Tamil brothers and sisters are among the Sri Lankans who live with hope and aspiration believing in a new tomorrow. Prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, In his message for Maha Shivratri, conveyed his wishes to those observing Maha Shivarathri. The prime minister said Maha Shivratri is considered one of the holiest by the Hindu community & wishes good fortune, prosperity & peace to all. Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa conveying his wishes for Maha Shivratri said, Sri Lanka enjoys a peaceful and sophisticated society, where everyone has the freedom to practice the religion of their choice, which is considered as a pillar in promoting peace and reconciliation within the island nation.
