Government To Take Local Administrative Services Online Next Year

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Digital Economy stated that it is planned to provide a range of services online which are being offered by Grama Niladhari offices, local government institutions and Divisional Secretariat offices. 

Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne said the initiative aims to provide the public with more efficient services.

The project is scheduled to commence next year. 

Pilot programmes under the initiative have been planned for execution in the Gampaha and Polonnaruwa districts.

The Deputy Minister also stated that providing these services online would help reduce daily congestion at these offices.
