General election 2020 to cost over Rs 5 billion

Colombo (News 1st) - The National Elections Commission notes that the upcoming General Election will cost the taxpayer over Rs 5 billion. Commissioner-General of the Commission Saman Sri Rathnayake noted that the commission would take steps to inform the Government of the cost after the election is officially announced. The upcoming general election will be held under the 2019 electoral list. State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene recently informed the media that Parliament would be dissolved between the 2nd and 6th of March.
