Colombo (News 1st): Retired Major General Nanda Mallawaarachchi has been appointed as the Director-General of the Multi-Purpose Development Task Force.
According to the Presidential media unit, the Multi-Purpose Development Task Force has been established under the concept of creating a poverty-free Sri Lanka in line with President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa's vision of 'Saubhagyaye Dakma'.
The government intends to establish this corporation after providing formal vocational training to those with minimum educational qualifications and providing permanent employment to the government.
He had earlier served as the Secretary to the Ministry of Law and Order and Ambassador to Indonesia. Retired Major General Mallawarachchi was a former Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army. Nanda Mallawarachchi has been the Founding Secretary of the Ministry of Law and Order and Secretary of the Ministry of Sports.
