COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Health Ministry has decided to establish a fully equipped hospital belonging to the central government in every district.
Additional Secretary at the Ministry, Sunil De Alwis said that the decision was taken with the aim of providing patients an opportunity to receive treatment in their own districts, so as to evade the crowds gathering at the Colombo, Karapitiya and Kandy hospitals.
Hospitals belonging to the central government have not yet been constructed for the Matale, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, and Vavuniya districts. Thereby residents of these areas are forced to obtain medicine from provincial hospitals.
The Ministry noted, that due to the insufficient funds received by these hospitals, and the lack of facilities people are forced to travel to other places in search of medicine.
Under this new project, it has been decided to develop the hospitals belonging to the central government and provide people with more benefits.
