Two arrested for financial fraud in Wellawatte

Colombo (News 1st): Two suspects have been arrested in connection with financial fraud in Wellawatte. According to the Special Task Force, they had obtained the money claiming they would bribe the Wellawatta police official in order to release a suspect who was arrested while in possession of illegal cigarettes. A sum of Rs. 190,000 that was scammed in the process was seized by the STF. On Thursday, December 26th a suspect was arrested while in possession of 1800 illegal cigarettes and was later handed over to the Wellawatte Police for further investigation.
