Prime Minister extends congratulations to Gotabaya Rajapaksa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe extended his warm congratulations to the 7th Executive President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Issuing a statement the Prime Minister said they hope to reach a decision with regard to the next Parliamentary elections following discussions with the speaker, party leaders, and government MPs. Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and to the Maldives Alaina B. Teplitz has also congratulated President-Elect Gotabhaya Rajapaksa via Twitter. She said she congratulates the people of Sri Lanka on their democratic election and said that she "looks forward to working with President-elect Rajapaksa on issues of good governance, economic growth, the advancement of human rights and reconciliation in support of a strong, sovereign Sri Lanka."
