Colombo (News 1st): The National Elections Commission has directed its attention towards utilizing boxes made out of cardboard for the upcoming Presidential Election. Commissioner-General of the NEC, Saman Sri Ratnayake said that calling of tenders for cardboard boxes has already begun.
He added this decision had been taken as there is an insufficient number of ballot boxes made out of wood. A special meeting between officials of the National Election Commission and Presidential candidates, party secretaries, and legal officers will be held today.
Commissioner-General of the NEC, Saman Sri Ratnayake said, the meeting will take place at the premises of the National Elections Commission and will focus on several key factors pertaining to the upcoming Presidential Election.
The meeting will be headed by the Chairman of the National Elections Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya.
