COLOMBO(News 1st) - The Jathika Sanvidana Sammelanaya reiterates that a group that can carry out the programs of Gotabaya Rajapaksa should be elected to Parliament. A special meeting was held yesterday with the participation of SLPP Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Prof. Nalin De Silva noted that they are committed to elect Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the executive president of the country. He added that the executive presidency is an office, based on authority which will enable him/her to appoint secretaries, governors and the Prime Minister of the country. He went on to note that they would not abolish the executive presidency and request that the 13th or the 19th amendment to the constitution be annulled. He added that they would make amendments, however, they do not intend to introduce another constitution for another 10 years because the current or the parliament that is to be elected do not have the mentality to do so. Professor went on to note that they would have to breed new parliamentarians with a fresh perspective to introduce a new constitution. Ven. Prof. Induragare Dammarathana Thero, University of Kelaniya confirmed that if they could not make a change with the current lot they would have to breed a new set and therefore their main responsibility of the national organizations should be to make Gota the king, secondarily to protect him and finally to breed a new group of MPs who can enact his Presidential orders and instructions.
