COLOMBO (News 1st) - The inaugural rally of the Presidential Candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapaksa was held at the Salgado ground in Anuradhapura. The rally commenced with the participation of party leaders, MPs, experts and supporters of the SLPP.
Presidential Candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived with the national organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Duminda Dissanayake and several other party representatives.
Duminda Dissanayake noted that not just himself, Weerakumara Dissanayake and all the SLFP party organizers, as well as all who represent SLFP, will stand with Gotabaya Rajapaksa in order to hail him as the president of the country. He further added that the SLFP will be committed to ensuring the future, security and the lives of those SLFP supporters who vote for Gotabaya Rajapaksa. He went on to note that the SLFP will sign two agreements with SLPP and expects to strengthen the country with the victory of Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa promised that he would safeguard the country as long as the public keep their promise on November 16th. He added that following his appointment as the president he would cancel all the micro-finance loans, agriculture loans and the loans of the people of this country. He ensured that he would promise to build a prosperous country, where the future generations will be proud.
Leader of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the location following the speech by the presidential candidate.
Mahinda Rajapaksa noted that they would see that water from Moragahakanda flows to Anuradhapura. He added that they requested the mandate of the people to make this project a reality in 2015, however they did not and he promised that they would provide clean drinking water.
