I did not make a written request to be made the candidate: Speaker Karu Jayasuriya

Colombo (News 1st): Speaker Karu Jayasuriya states that reports that he had made a written request to be named the Presidential Election Candidate, are false. A statement from Speaker Karu Jayasuriya noted a press release issued on the 17th of September was in response to several parties requesting him to contest the Presidential Election. The statement also noted, the press release only mentioned several policy-related matters and it was not a press release highlighting a request to become the Presidential Election Candidate.
