Colombo (News 1st) - The Meteorology Department states that the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, Northern, and North-Western provinces will experience rainfall in excess of 150 mm.
The prevailing showery conditions over the island are expected to continue during the next few days.
Furthermore, strong gusty winds up to 70-80 kmph and very rough seas can be expected during the thundershowers.
Naval and fishing communities are advised to be vigilant.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has issued a landslide early warning to the Ratnapura, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalle and Kalutara districts.
DMC Assistant Director Pradeep Kodippilli stated that 88 people from the Soranatota area in Badulla have been evacuated due to the risk of earth slips.
