Colombo (News 1st) - The Lotus Tower – South Asia’s tallest tower standing at 350 meters in Colombo will be opened by President Maithripala Sirisena today (September 16).
The Lotus Tower comprises a telecommunications museum, hotel, restaurants, auditorium, and an observation deck. The 17-storeyed tower was constructed at a cost of US$ 100 million, of which 80 per cent was funded by China.
The Department of Posts decided to issue a commemorative stamp to mark the opening of the Lotus Tower.
Postmaster Genera Ranjith Ariyaratne stated that the stamp valued at Rs 45.00, a first-day cover and a commemorative note will be issued.
