COLOMBO (News 1st) - Attorney General Dappula De Livera has requested the Chief Justice to appoint three judges of the High Court to constitute a High Court Trial at Bar for the High Seas Arms Trafficking Case of MV Avant Garde involving Nissanka Senadhipathi and 12 others in respect of 7537 charges.
These charges included the illegal possession of 816 automatic firearms and 202,395 live bullets aboard the MV Avant-Garde without any legal document.
Speaking to News 1st Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General, State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said incidentally this case would be the first of its kind where the Attorney General filed an extremely large number of charges.
