J'pura University students protest over hostel security

COLOMBO (News 1st): Several students of the women's hostel at the Sri Jayawardhenapura University protested near the Sumangala hall at midnight yesterday (August 8). The students protested against the lack of security for their hostel. They claim that many outsiders have entered their hostel and that the most recent case was last night (August 8) when a man had walked into the hostel premises. President of the J'pura Students Union, Rev Wadavala Sumanadeva thero stated that although they had notified the officials of this matter that they were not granted a proper solution for the issue. However, when News1st inquired the Vice-Chancellor Professor Sampath Amarathunga on the matter, he said that they have provided maximum protection for the said hostel. He further said that the lecturer in charge of the hostel has been informed to look into the situation that arose yesterday (August 8).
