Colombo (News 1st): The 6th COMPLAST and RUB-EXPO International exhibition kicked off at the BMICH today (August 9). The event took place under the auspices of Minister of Plantation Industries, Navin Dissanayake and High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Taranjit Singh Sandhu. The event is organized by the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka and smart expos and fairs India.
High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Taranjit Singh Sandhu noted that while the usage and benefits of plastics are many, it also get branded as a polluting material. He added that plastics need to be collected, disposed or recycled as per laid down guidelines and the issue of plastics waste also needs to be suitably addressed.
He added that in fact there is a wide score for industries based on recycling of plastic waste and this will ensure environmentally sustainable growth.
