COLOMBO (News 1st) - UPFA national list MP Shantha Bandara has decided to resign from his position in order to be sworn in as an MP to the position left vacant following the demise of Kurunegala MP Salinda Dissanayake.
Shantha Bandara amassed the second-highest number of votes in the Kurunegala district from the UPFA, second to late Salinda Dissanayake.
The President decided to award Shantha Bandara the national list position left vacant after M.L.A.M. Hizbullah who was initially selected through the national list, was named the Governor of the Northern Province.
