COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Prisons states that a complaint was lodged at the CID on the murder of the chief jailer attached to the Welikada prison training school in the Kuleegoda junction in Ambalangoda last evening (August 3).
A senior spokesperson at the Ministry stated that a statement has already been provided to the CID on the matter. He said that a separate investigation will be conducted by the CID as well. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice and Prison Reforms has lodged a complaint with the IGP requesting for immediate investigations.
The police state that investigations have already been launched through four teams to track down the suspects using CCTV footage from the area that the shooting took place. However, the suspects have not yet been identified.
The murdered individual is a 44-year-old resident of Soyza Mawatha in Ambalangoda named Thilina Ruwan Jayaratna.
