Illegal drug plant : Investigations on distribution company

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Medicines Regulatory Authority states that they discovered the 12 locations where medicine which was produced illegally, from a plant in Kelaniya, was being sold. The Chief Drug and Food Inspector of the Authority, Amit Perera noted that they identified 10 illegal drugs which were manufactured at the plant. He added that they have also ascertained the Pharmaceutical Distribution company which had assigned the plant to produce these drugs. He went on to note that the investigations are underway into the pharmaceutical distribution company as well. The illegal drug manufacturing plant was raided on the 8th of July by the officials of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority and they managed to discover a load of high protein milk and expired drugs which had been repackaged for distribution.
