Protest against the Co-operative Act 6 in Seenigama

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A protest was staged yesterday(June 23) by the members of the Southern Provincial Co-operatives against the co-operatives act no 6 of 2019 that was approved recently by the Southern Provincial Council. News 1st correspondents noted that the protest was held from 2 pm till 5 pm. A protestor at the location noted that the Act No 6 of 2019 was formed by the Southern Provincial Co-operatives in an arbitrary manner despite the continuous request from co-operative members to discuss the Act before it was established. Protesters who marched from Hikkaduwa to the Seenigama Dewala engaged in religious observances and continued to protest opposite to the Dewala.
