Prisons intel expanded following 04/21 attack

COLOMBO (News 1st): The intelligence operations in prisons have been expanded. Commissioner General of Prisons T. M. W. J. Tennakoon states that 32 prisons are divided into three divisions for the operation. The A division includes notorious criminals detained in Welikada, Magazine, Galle, Kalutara and Dumbara prisons. High attention has been paid for operations conducted in these prisons. The C division includes the Kuruwita and Wataraka prisons. The rest of the prisons have been assigned under the B division. The Commissioner General claimed that the prison's intelligence comprises of 98 officials. The activities of the prison's intelligence that was hampered due to the 04/21 attacks was restored a few days ago. He added that the intelligence is assigned with the duties of identifying the relatives arriving at the prisons to meet the inmates and tracing illegal items within the prison.
