Colombo (News 1st): More than 100 people belonging to 24 families in the Holyrood area in Talawakelle have been displaced as a result of a fire that erupted in the line houses.
The fire erupted last night and initial investigations reveal that the incident took place as a result of an electric short circuit.
The fire had erupted around 10 pm yesterday (May 29). The families that were displaced as a result of the fire have been relocated at the Holyrood Tamil Maha Vidyalaya. They were once again relocated this morning to a community hall located in the estate.
The food, water and other needs of these people are being provided by the Divisional Secretariat of Nuwara Eliya, the management of the Holyrood Estate and the residents of the area.
