Navy nabs 9 fishermen using illegal nets

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Sri Lankan Navy nabbed nine people for engaging in illegal fishing at the Valaltoddam sea, in Trincomalee yesterday (May 25).  A group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command, arrested 09 persons who fishing using unauthorized fishing nets. The apprehended persons have been identified as residents of Lankapatuna area, aged between 22 to 47. A dinghy, outboard motor (OBM) and unauthorized fishing nets were taken into naval custody and were handed over to the office of the fisheries inspector, Mutur for further action.
