One dead in Southern Expressway crash

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An individual was killed and eight others sustained injuries in a motor accident that took place at the Kurudugaha Hethekma, 58 km post along the Southern Expressway. According to the police, the accident had occurred when a van heading towards Kadawatha collided with a lorry. At the time of the accident, five passengers were in the van while four were travelling on the lorry. The deceased, the driver of the van is a 47-year-old resident of Kalutara. Meanwhile, an accident in Karandeniya, in close vicinity to Arawwawala bridge left a person dead and another injured. The police stated that the accident occurred when two motorbikes collided with each other. A 40-year-old died in the accident.
