Complaint on illegal fertilizer racket filed at the CID

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Fertilizer Secretariat has made a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department over a racket involving the illegal distribution of fertilizer stocks for industries. Director of the National Fertilizer Secretariat Ajith Pushpakumara said that the fertilizer stocks were imported to the country for agricultural purposes. He continued to say that the Ministry of Agriculture is also investigating the matter. The Director added that the government spends approximately Rs. 35 billion annually on fertilizer imports.
