Many land folios in the country are counterfeits - Registrar General

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Recent reports exposed that several persons attached to Land Registry Offices and Notaries are connected to various irregularities in connection to counterfeit land folios. The Registrar General N.C.Vithanage stated that 40% to 50% of land folios in the country are counterfeits. He also said that 20% of the birth certificates, marriage certificates and death certificates were forged. He added that measures have been taken to institute legal action against persons connected to such fraudulent activities.
