Colombo (News 1st): The Disaster Management Centre stated that over two hundred thousand people have been adversely affected by the prevailing dry weather. Assistant Director at the DMC Pradeep Koddippilli said water bowsers had been deployed to areas in need of water for consumption; adding they will obtain the assistance of the tri-forces for this purpose as well. Meanwhile, Kalutara District Secretary UDC Jayalal noted that around 90,000 families in Kalutara were faced with a lack of water for consumption. The Met Department says showers or thundershowers can be expected this afternoon across the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces. However, as for the heat, the department added, on the apparent northward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka from today until the 15th.
