Colombo (News 1st): Councilors of the Bandaragama Pradeshiya Sabha traded insults and fistfights over the rejection of the proposal by the Chairman of the Council today (April 5). The Bandaragama Pradeshiya Sabha sessions were chaired by its Chairman Devendra Perera.
The tensions began after a proposal presented by UNP councillors requesting to grant a stall at the public market complex belonging to the Pradeshiya Sabha, to a family who used to live at the premises before the construction of the market complex.
A councillor representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna was seen speaking in this manner to members of the family in question after the council sessions.
