Sabaragamuwa University Students protest near Parliament road

Colombo (News 1st): Police fired tear gas and water cannons at the Parliament roundabout to disperse a protest march organized by the Student's Collective of the University of Sabaragamuwa this evening. The students were protesting against the failure to enrol 33 qualified students to the Faculty of Social Sciences & Languages at the university. The protest that commenced from the Institute of Ingenious Medicine progressed to the Parliament roundabout. Afterwards, the students attempted to proceed towards the parliament. Bumper to bumper traffic was reported in Battaramulla, Rajagiriya, Polduwa Junction and surrounding roads as a result of the protest. Hence the police took measures to disperse the protesters.
