Colombo (News 1st): The President's Office has dismissed reports quoting a spokesperson from the Singapore Foreign Ministry stating that Sri Lanka had failed to provide documents to support its extradition request for former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran, believed to be living in Singapore.
A statement from the President's Media Division says, that on May 28th 2018 the Sri Lankan Government via the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence had made an official diplomatic level request along with the RED NOTICE issued by INTERPOL on April 19th 2018.
The PMD says the Foreign Ministry of Singapore had informed Sri Lanka, that the matter was directed to the attention of the Singapore Attorney General as well. It notes that the reports quoting a spokesperson from the Singapore Foreign Ministry cannot be accepted as an official announcement from the Government of Singapore.
