COLOMBO (News 1st) - UPFA MP, Susil Premajayantha said that the Minister of Finance noted that the Sri Lankan economy is suffering the after-effects of the bond scam in parliament today(March 09).
Susil Premajayantha noted that when the Minister of Finance presented the budget proposal he said, that this is a ticking bomb handed over by the previous government in 2015, and he managed to handle it without letting the bomb explode.
He noted that the first bomb was the government change in 2015 followed by the bond scam. He said that the country will suffer the consequences of the bond scam at least for another 25 years.
He presented a chain of questions to the governing party.
He asked who was the mastermind behind bringing Arjuna Mahendran from Singapore to rob the Central Bank and asked how many job opportunities they opened for Sri Lankans? How many innovative and beneficial projects were implemented by the government?
He noted that interest rates which had a single figure at their time of power have increased to double figures rendering it impossible to pay back loan instalments. He also noted that parliament is no place for cocaine users and that they must leave the parliament immediately.
Finally, he asked the government to hold a general election, as the citizens of the country can appoint responsible representatives to govern by throwing current "thieves" in to the gutter.
The complete speech made by parliamentarian Susil Premajayantha will be broadcasted on Monday(March 11) at 10:30 pm on Sirasa TV.
