Colombo (News 1st) - A group of ETI depositors staged a demonstration this morning, opposite the Nelum Pokuna Theatre in Colombo. The demonstrators staged a protest against municipal councillor and director of ETI Holdings Deepa Edirisinghe, who had attended an event to celebrate international women's day.
A tense situation arose between the demonstrators and the police. Subsequently, MP Shantha Bandara arrived at the scene and discussed their issues with the demonstrators.
Convenor of the movement, Anusha Jayanthi noted that they are of the stance that Deepa Edirisinghe who defrauded Rs 34bn should be removed from her position as a municipal councillor. Jayanthi noted that the protestors will follow her wherever she goes. MP Shantha Bandara noted that he would pass on their concerns to the President.
