Biyagama residents protest against water pollution in the area

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The residents in the Biyagama area staged a protest last night (February 28). The protesters charged that the factories in the Biyagama Investment Promotion Zone release wastewater to the Kelani river without purification. The area residents of Malwana gathered near the canal yesterday (February 28) claiming that the wastewater is being released to this canal. The residents complain of a bad odour emitting due to the wastewater released to the canal. The protestors further said that the protest will continue if an effective solution is not given within the day.
