UNHRC Sec Gen 2016 visit protest : Wimal Weerawansa ordered to appear in court on May 13

COLOMBO (News 1st): A case filed against Wimal Weerewansa and 6 others was taken up for hearing today (Feb 25). The case filed was for causing a public disturbance when the then General Secretary of the United Nations Human Rights Council visited Sri Lanka. Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered for the hearing of evidence to be held on May 13. The witnesses were also summoned to appear before the court on the given date. The Cinnamon Garden Police produced a CD in court containing footage of the protest that caused a public disturbance on February 6th, 2016.
