IGP to appoint top level team to assist Commission investigating corruption

Colombo (News 1st): The IGP has been informed to appoint a special police team to assist the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate corruption at state institutions over the past 4 years. A spokesperson for Commission said that it had been informed to appoint skilled personnel from the Police Department and Criminal Investigation Department to the team. The team is to be appointed under the supervision of an Assistant Superintendent of Police. Meanwhile, the Commission has received 101 complaints since January 29th. The complaints are currently being studied. Complaints will continue to be accepted until the March 7th. However, a Commission spokesperson said that the majority of the complaints received thus far were outside its purview. Information or complaints can be communicated to the Commission in written form in all three languages and presented to room 210 of Block 2 at the BMICH premises in Colombo.
