President wants police to eradicate moonshine

Colombo (News 1st): Attending an event in Polonnaruwa today (Feb 9), President Maithripala Sirisena stated that the police is under his purview

He noted that he would issue a circular where the OIC and SSP of respective areas will

be held

responsible if illegal spirits

discovered

in their police jurisdictions

The head of state noted that he would begin a wider program to eradicate the production of illegal spirits.

The President added that those who consume illegal spirits will be angry, but this is for the betterment of all
