COLOMBO (News 1st) - The excavation work on the Mannar mass grave is due to recommence today (January 30).
Judicial specialist doctor of the Mannar hospital Saminda Rajapaksha said that the excavation activities had temporarily stopped from the 21st of January as the samples were sent to the US for carbon dating.
The number of human skeletons excavated from the mass grave has increased up to 300. 27 out of these skeletons belongs to children.
Specialist doctor Rajapaksa further said that the carbon dating report from the Beta analytic lab in America will be issued within two weeks. The samples were handed over to the US lab on the 25th of January.
