Colombo (News1st)-Five Indian fishing trawlers apprehended by Sri Lanka Navy due to trespassing and illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters were turned over to India by the Navy in coordination with the Coast Guard Department.
Prior to handing them over, a group of Indian technicians arrived in Sri Lanka to repair the Indian trawlers anchored at the jetty of SLNS Elara in Karainagar.
After the repairs, the Indian trawlers were turned over to Indian Coast Guard ship “Ameya” by a craft belonging to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard at the International Maritime Boundary Line off Kankasanturai.
