COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Galle public market, which has not been properly overlooked by the authorities, is becoming one which is unsuitable for the public to utilize.
It's buildings and sanitary facilities are now in a dilapidated state.
The Galle public market was relocated to this temporary location of Kekiribokka, following the destruction caused by the tsunami.
Around 130 merchants engage in business at this market while around 3,000 customers arrive on a daily basis.
Merchants charge that although this land is owned by the Urban Development Authority, the relevant authorities have not paid necessary attention to the market complex.
