Tamil prisoners allowed to meet with their relatives for Thai Pongal

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Prisons has permitted relatives of all Tamil prisoners to visit the inmates today (January 15) from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. The permission has been granted due to the Thai Pongal festival that falls today. The inmates have also been permitted to accept food items brought by their relatives. Media Spokesperson for the Department Thushara Upuldeniya noted that the inmates charged with serious offenses will be granted the opportunity to meet their relatives under special security.
