Accidents reported from across the country; take caution

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Several accidents were reported both yesterday and today from various parts of the country.

Kamburugamuwa

Two youth aged 20 and 21 years died in Kamburugamuwa, Matara this morning (December 23) when their motorbike veered off the road and crashed into a nearby wall. The deceased have been identified as residents of Thihagoda and Galdola. The police confirmed that the accident had occurred due to speeding.

Hatton

Meanwhile, a bowser plying from Weyangoda to Bagawantalawa fell into a 15-foot deep precipice in the Grankan estate in Hatton. The News1st correspondent in the area confirmed that the bowser was severely damaged but the driver had however escaped without any major injuries.

Thil- Adiya

An accident occurred at noon today (December 23) when a private bus plying from Puttalam to Colombo skidded off the road and fell into a lake in Thil-Adiya. One person who sustained injuries in the accident was admitted to the Puttalam General Hospital. The police are conducting further investigations into this incident.

Horana

Meanwhile, another bus plying on the Horana- Kalutara route veered off the road and collided into a pharmacy last evening (December 22). Our correspondent confirmed that the accident occurred when a group on the bus were returning home after a pilgrimage. Four people who sustained injuries are currently undergoing treatment at the Horana General hospital.
