Ranil Wickremesinghe on the Supreme Court verdict

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Leader of the United National Party Ranil Wickremesinghe taking to Twitter following the Supreme Court ruling, stated that he expects that the President will respect the decision of the Supreme Court. Further, the tweet reads that the legislature, judiciary and the executive are equally important pillars of democracy and that it is also important in ensuring the sovereignty of the citizens.  

We trust that the President will promptly respect the judgment of the courts. The legislature, judiciary, and the executive are equally important pillars of a democracy and the checks and balances that they provide are crucial to ensuring the sovereignty of its citizens.
