Parliament set to convene at 10.30 AM

Colombo (News1st): Parliament is set to convene once again at 10.30 am today (November 23). An all-party leaders meeting is set to take place at 9.30 AM, following which, the Government MPs and the UNP Parliamentary Group will have their respective meetings before the Parliamentary Session. It is reported that the Public Gallery and the Special Invitees Gallery will be closed when the Parliament re-convenes today. Speaking to News1st, the sergeant-at-arms said the entire parliamentary complex will be out-of-bounds for the general public except to the media. The Government has thus far made 07 nominations for the Parliamentary Select Committee while the UNP has made a series of nominations, claiming they command the majority. The JVP has already nominated two MPs as their representatives for the Parliamentary Select Committee. The Parliamentary Select Committee is paramount for the smooth operations of Parliament and will be a committee of 12 chaired by the speaker.
